Roger Duff

Archaeologist Roger Duff made his mark with his investigations into the Moa Hunter period of Maori culture at Wairau Bar and with the his publication on the recovery of Moa remains at Pyramid Valley. From 1948 until his death in 1978 he was the active Director of the Canterbury Museum.
A supporter of China's peace movement, in 1956, he visited Beijing as a guest of the PRC facilitating Rewi Alley presenting to the Museum his entire collection of Chinese Art. In all, seven crates of objects were shipped to Canterbury Museum.
