Many travellers, after arriving in Picton on the car ferry make an almost non-stop road trip to Chrischurch in the minimum four and a bit hours. However, apart from the activities in Kaikoura which could merit an over night stop, it is worthwhile allowing extra time as there are a number of interesting things to see and do on the way.
