Michael King

Born in Wellington in 1945, Michael King was an historian who contributed much to the research and publication of New Zealand history in terms of both Maori and Pakeha interests, producing seminal historical texts and biographies up until his death, with his wife, in a car accident in 2004. King won more awards for his books, journalism, and television work than any other New Zealand writer, including the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in non-fiction in 2003.
