Dunedin Urban Renewal

The industrial and commercial heart of old Dunedin, between the Octagon and the Railway Station, centering on Queens Gardens and Vogel Street, is undergoing intensive process of urban renewal. Former industrial buildings, some utilitarian, some wildly decorative, are being refurbished, upgraded, and tenanted with interesting businesses including a variety of slick eateries and accommodations. Old Stalwarts and painted murals add further character to the neighbourhood.

The superstar on the block has to the Post Office turned Distinction Hotel, always a notch up from the rest.
